Epic Games revealed what the Unreal Engine 5 would look like on a PS5 and it looks amazing. The game that is showcased in the trailer is “Lumen in the Land of Nanite”. The two new big core technologies that will be in the Unreal Engine 5 are, “Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry, which frees artists to create as much geometric detail as the eye can see, and Lumen, a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes.” You can see the full YouTube video they released below:

Brian Karis said, “The artists won’t have to be concerned about poly counts, draw calls, or memory. We could directly use film quality assess and bring them straight into the engine.” Jerome Platteaux added on to that saying, “That’s a big deal for artists, I just want to be able to import my ZBrush models, my photogrammetry scan, and my CAD data without wasting any time optimizing, creating LODs, or even lowering the quality to make it hit frame rate.”
