Community remembers Toledo’s sports broadcasting legend

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Celebration of Life was held to honor the lifetime of Toledo’s sports activities broadcasting legend, Jerry Keil.

Household and buddies gathered at Highland Meadows in Sylvania on Saturday, August 21, 2021, to honor of Keil who handed away in February 2020.

Keil spent almost all 50 years in broadcasting in Toledo and was the Sports activities Director at WSPD Radio. He was additionally a play-by-play announcer for space highschool soccer and basketball video games.

For over three many years at WSPD, Keil was the “Voice of the Rockets” for The College of Toledo’s soccer and basketball video games. He served because the host of UT’s “Rocket Nation”, together with producing and internet hosting weekly UT coaches‘ exhibits on WSPD radio. Keil introduced Mid-American soccer and basketball match video games, in addition to NCAA and NIT match video games.

“He liked individuals and he loved his job,” stated Sharon Keil, the window of Jerry Keil. “He liked broadcasting and he felt so blessed.
