German cycling sports director sent home after racist remarks

TOKYO, July 29 (Reuters) – The sporting director of the German biking federation (BDR) has been instructed to return residence from the Tokyo Olympics after being caught on digital camera making racist remarks throughout Wednesday’s males’s Olympic street time trial, the German workforce stated on Thursday.

“The workforce management on the Olympic Video games in Tokyo has determined that Patrick Moster can’t proceed his work as nationwide workforce chief Biking and can return to Germany,” the workforce stated in a press release.

Moster had made the remarks throughout the street time trial occasion as he tried to induce on one among Germany’s cyclists.

“Get the camel drivers, get the camel drivers, come on,” he was heard shouting at Nikias Arndt, who was chasing opponents Algeria’s Azzedine Lagab and Eritrea’s Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier.

Moster apologised later blaming his remarks on ‘the warmth of the second.”

On German TV broadcaster ARD, commentator Florian Nass was left shocked, describing the feedback as “completely flawed”.

“Phrases fail me,” he stated. “One thing like that has no place in sport.”

Arndt completed the time trial in nineteenth place, three minutes and 45 seconds behind Slovenia’s gold medallist Primoz Roglic. read more
