Jon Jones Vacates UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and Plans to Start the weight gain Process to move to HW
Jon Jones has taken to Twitter of his future plans with his MMA career and has even called out Stipe Miocic after his victory against Daniel Cormier in UFC 252. Jones has tweeted saying, “Just got off the phone with @Ufc, today I confirm that I’m vacating the light heavyweight championship. It’s officially up for grabs. It’s been an amazing journey, sincere thank you to all my competition, Ufc and most importantly you fans.” and shortly after he mentions that he will remain in the UFC testing pool for the “next half-year or so” and will continue to lift weights and train in martial arts. Jones has then confirmed that he has talked to the UFC and is in negotiations for his next fight at the UFC heavyweight division and that he will start the weight gaining process. It would seem that Miocic would give Francis Ngannou his long-awaited shot at the UFC title and the rematch. Shortly after Jones’s announcement, Anthony Johnson has announced that he will be returning to the UFC as a light heavyweight which you can read more about here.
