Introduction

Hello! I am Maybeitskat or you can call me Kat! I’m a twitch variety streamer and a video editor for content creators in Tempted Esports and more.

What inspired you to start streaming on Twitch?

I started streaming when females weren’t that into the gaming industry as much and I wanted to be an inspiration just like Pokimane to help women join the community and not be scared. I wanted to entertain people and create a community that would bring each other up when things go sideways and have fun.

How long have you been streaming on Twitch?

I’ve been streaming on twitch for 4 years already! It’s quite an on and off situation but I’ve been committed to streaming for 2 years now. I am incredibly thankful for how far I’ve gotten; starting from Facebook Live to Twitch and it’s been amazing.

How do you interact with your audience during your streams?

Most of the time, I always say that I’m quite a boring streamer but my viewers say otherwise. When reviewing my vods, I realize I talk a lot about EVERYTHING and having that transparency or intimacy with your viewers can create long lasting relationships. I tend to interact with them by either starting off stream with Just Chatting, when people chat I make sure to greet them and ask how they’re doing. Every now and then I do viewer games but most of the time I just have that transparency and interactive services in my chat so they’re more engaged.

How do you handle trolls or negative comments during your streams?

I usually dont ban or timeout trolls or negative comments during the streams. I tend to ask why they feel the way they do or why they say things the way they do and apologize if anything wrong is going on in their lives that makes them spread hate towards people online. I try to understand them as much as possible and if ever my chat feels like they’re being too much already, we tend to time out or ban them if needed. These people just need attention and have someone to talk to sometimes, so give them the benefit of the doubt.

How do you balance streaming and other responsibilities in your life?

One of the quotes my friend gave me when I was having such a hard time balancing my life and streaming was, “When you’re playing video games, just hit the live button already. If you’re playing something, why not just go live and share your experience with your viewers.” Video games are a stress-relief for me and so is streaming. When I’m getting overwhelmed with work, I play video games and since I’m doing nothing else other than playing, I’ll just hit live and talk to people!

How do you build and maintain a community on your stream?

I know people might hate me for saying this but, dont have an extreme internet persona. We all have different personas but personally, I like to stay true to my community as much as possible. The way you see me act on stream is the way I act in real life. As mentioned before, I like the idea of transparency with viewers and treating them like they’re your friends or family; because most of the time, they tend to become just that. I maintain a community by making sure I engage with them every now and then, I update them, I talk to them on discord and other social media sites. Just like how you would with your friends!

Can you walk me through your experience editing videos for Twitch?

Editing videos or content for Twitch is extremely challenging yet so fun. I enjoy video editing and making sure that the content creators are happy and reminded of why they stream in the first place. I started editing with my content, making sure that I highlight the things going on my stream but lately I’ve been editing other content creators’ videos and I like to elevate and make their content pop more.

How do you approach editing a Twitch stream for maximum engagement and entertainment value?

For maximum engagement and entertainment value, I wanna highlight the streamer’s personality and brand. I focus on their reaction, the content and adding assets to exaggerate them more such as fonts animation, emotes and so on. I wanna make sure the viewers are engaged with the video, capturing their eye from subtitles and graphics as well as gaining their attention through the first few minutes of a video.

How do you stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques in video editing for Twitch?

Most of the time, I stay up to date with the latest trends by watching other people’s content as well. I like to watch TikTok and Youtube videos before I go to bed to make sure that I can see what people tend to watch or what are they interested in to watch.

How do you handle working with a streamer to achieve their vision for their content?

Before I begin editing for a content creator, I like to make sure I ask questions if they have references in mind, if they have specific theme or branding and most of the time they leave that decision to me. When it comes to creative freedom, you have unlimited options on how to make a streamer different from the rest. I make sure they have a consistent theme, checking the color they usually use and a font that matches their personality. Communication with your client is extremely important to make sure you achieve what they’re thinking of.

How do you keep track of and organize all the footage and assets for a streamer’s videos?

As an editor for multiple content creators, I like to keep a folder for each client or content creator and making a tracker list to track down the videos they want edited, the progress and making sure the streamer is happy with the layout of the folders.

How do you stay organized and efficient during the editing process?

LABELS. Labels are your best friend and they’re going to keep your folders organized. I like to start with cutting down the video, adding video motions, adding subtitles and lastly adding emotes and sounds to enhance/elevate the videos. This is one way for me to stay efficient, doing the harder things first and easy things in the end.
