“OMB Jay Dee – ARE YOU DUMB VOL.1” Album Review

Rapper OMB Jay Dee who hails from Brooklyn, New York has just released “ARE YOU DUMB VOL.1“. This is his first album since 2021 when he released, “Legendary”. “ARE YOU DUMB VOL.1” has 16 songs with a run time of 45 minutes and 35 seconds. I will be reviewing this album track below.

Track 1 – Aim Higher – I like the beat. He goes all over the place on this song. I give this song a 5/10
Track 2 – Born In The Trenches – The beat sounds really really low or at least the sample. His mic also sounds odd in this song. I feel like because of the beat this should have been a slower type of song but he kept the same energy on the first song and it does not really fit with this sample that’s in this beat. I give this song a 0/10
Track 3 – Grind Forever – This also sounds like a slower beat. He sings this song and I am really enjoying it. The hook is really enjoyable and relatable. Don Q is doing a really good job and went with a different energy but it still feels like it fit. 10/10
Track 4 – Dead Mans – The beat is really good. He is snapping on this song. His flow is unmatched. He is addressing a lot of his “opps” on this song, and he is calling people out by name. 10/10
Track 5 – O’z Did (God Did Freestyle) –  He is telling everyone in this song he deserves his spot and he earned it by helping other people. He is also trying to set his differences aside with Fivio Foreign he says in this song. I really enjoyed this slower song and him speaking his mind. 10/10
Track 6 – Nightmare – The beginning part definitely sounds like he is using too much autotune. His verse however does not sound like it has any autotune at all. Dusty Locane went crazy on this feature. 10/10 it would be playlist material but the autotune usage during the hook kills that possibility.
Track 7 – Red Light (Freestyle) – The beat is a slower type of beat similar to track 5. He is telling how his heart feels about certain situations in his life like going to prison and people not putting money on his books. 10/10
Track 8 – Hero – The beat is very high energy. He is going crazy he is keeping up with the beat. His wordplay is very good in this song. Toward the end of the song, he calls out other New York artists Rocko Ballin and 26AR. 10/10 definitely playlist material.
Track 9 – Dark – This beats energy is medium not hype but not dead either. To me, this song is just not good but it is also not bad. 5/10.
Track 10 – Counted Out – He is going crazy with this beat already calling out other artists. Rich NuNu is keeping up with JayDee. JayDee really set the tone for this song from the beginning. This beat is amazing. 10/10 definitely playlist material also.
Track 11 – FTO – This beat’s energy is very hype and JayDee is playing off of it very well. C Blu is doing amazing he is doing better than JayDee. I like the fact they are going back to back with lines. 10/10 playlist material.
Track 12 – Die Young – This beat appears to be a slower beat. I feel like this song should have been a slower song but the beat turned into a club beat. The sample is just throwing me off because it’s a singing sample and the beat is very hype. I really dislike this sample choice. 0/10
Track 13 – Back 2 Back – Stelly Hundo starts off the song and he does really well. This is another drill song and it goes hard. 10/10 playlist material for sure.
Track 14 – Lose Your Self – He samples Eminem lose yourself and honestly the beat is just generic and the drill sayings he is saying is getting repetitive. I thought this would be a slower song but he made it a drill song and it just does not fit in my opinion the vibe is just too low. TG Crippy does an amazing job on this track. 0/10
Track 15 – Love Gone – I have the same problem with this song as the previous one. the sample just does not go with the beat in my opinion. I find myself confused on what the vibe should be. 0/10
Track 16- Cole TV Outro – This is not a song it is just an outro 0/0.

I give this album a 100/150 which is a 7/10 this is definitely not the last we will hear of OMB Jay Dee and I expect he will drop more great singles like he usually does. Some songs in this album were plagued by bad choices in my opinion, but that is fine because the good tracks on this album make up for it. You can listen to the entire album yourself here.
